Scope and Contents From the Collection:

This collection contains five letters written to Bridget Hughes, a recent immigrant to America, by her family in Ireland, including her father Daniel McConville and her uncles James and John McConville. The letters discuss both family news and general events. They are particularly noteworthy in their discussion of the economic and social impact of the Irish Famine. Transcriptions are also included.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: This collection contains correspondence addressed to Reverend John O’Brien. Most of the letters are thank you notes from across the country for souvenir editions of The Sacred Heart Review issued after the Eucharistic Congress in Montreal in 1910. The collection also contains letters that were collected by O’Brien, including one signed by Irish politician Daniel O’Connell.
