Boston College. Office of Human Resources

 Organization

Biography

The Office of Human Resources has its origins in the Office of Personnel Relations, later known as the Department of Personnel, headed by a Director who reported to the Financial Vice President. As the administrative structure of the University evolved, the reporting line shifted accordingly: during the existence of the Vice President for Financial and Business Affairs (1976–1978), the Director of Personnel reported to that office; from 1979 to 1985, the Director reported to the Vice President and Treasurer. By the mid-1980s the office had been renamed the Department - or Office - of Human Resources, and its Director began reporting directly to the Executive Vice President. In the fall of 1989, the Director of Human Resources was promoted to a vice presidency, becoming Vice President for Human Resources.
