Boston College. Organization of Latin American Affairs
Biography
Established in 1986 as the Organization of Latin Americans and renamed the Organization of Latin American Affairs, OLAA is a student-run cultural organization at Boston College. Its purpose is to articulate and promote the needs and goals of the Latinxs at Boston College, as well as to foster a culture of academic excellence, spirituality, and social awareness. Equally, it supports the recruitment of prospective Latinx students at Boston College, while also advancing the interests of the Latinx community in Boston and the United States. It incorporates bilingual and bi-cultural knowledge into the college experience of Latino communities––namely, through community service, political action, and social justice. It strives for the unification of Latinxs, not only in the Boston College community, but also in other academic institutions and throughout the world. OLAA produced the literary journal Sabor.
