Boston College. Office of Student Development
Administrative history
The Office of Student Development was established in 1985 through the merger of the Office of the Dean of Students and the Office of Student Programs and Resources. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the new office was charged with enhancing the quality of student life outside the classroom and overseeing a broad range of student organizations, leadership programs, and campus events.
In 2011, the Office of the Dean of Students was reestablished, and the Office of Student Development was dissolved by the 2011–12 academic year. Many of its functions and programs were later incorporated into the newly formed Office of Student Involvement in 2014, which continues its mission of supporting student engagement and leadership across the University.
