Biography

The Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Mid-Atlantic Region group is dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of traditional Irish music, dance, language, song and culture. There are more than 60 branches of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in the United States, twelve of which make up the Mid-Atlantic Region. These include: Claddagh na nGael Branch: New Jersey Shore; Craobh Úll Mór Nua Eabhrac: New York City; Philadelphia/Delaware Branch: Philadelphia, Southern New Jersey, Delaware; Killoran-Clancy-Whelan Branch: Queens and Brooklyn, NY; Martin Mulvihill Branch: Central and Northern New Jersey; Coleman-O'Grady Branch: Bronx, Westchester, Rockland Counties, NY; Mulligan-Quinn Branch: Nassau and Suffolk Counties, NY; O’Neill-Malcom Branch: Baltimore, Washington DC and Fairfax, VA; Rafferty–Madden Branch: Northern New Jersey and Rockland County, NY; Rialta Cheol Branch: Central New Jersey; Tir na mBlath Branch: Southeast Florida

Abstract

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ) is an international organization for the promotion of Irish music, song, dance, and language. These records document the history and activities of the CCÉ Province in North America, with related material from CCÉ in Ireland. The collection includes administrative records, promotional artifacts, and biographical materials, as well as recordings of performances, interviews, and other events.
