Biographical note
Vivian Carol Fox was born on July 15, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to David and Mae (Granit) Daitz. She attended Brooklyn College, from which she graduated in 1954. Fox went on to graduate from Boston University with a master’s degree in European and American history and a doctorate in history. In 1953, Vivian (Daitz) Fox married Sanford J. Fox, a Harvard Law School graduate who became a Boston College law professor.
Vivian Fox first taught at Boston State College before moving to Bunker Hill Community College, and then Worcester State University, where she helped found the Program in Women’s Studies. She was co-editor of “Loving, Parenting, and Dying: The Family Cycle in England and America,” published in 1980, and “Women’s Rights in the United States: A Documentary History,” published in 1994. Fox died on March 21, 2012 in Brookline, Massachusetts.

These papers document the scholarly work of twentieth-century Boston College law professor and legal academic, Sanford J. Fox. The collection is composed of correspondence, event programs and agendas, research and notes, and typescripts. The bulk of the material relates to Fox's academic focus in juvenile law and his work internationally for children’s rights.
Collection is open for research. The volume in Box 2 is closed until December 31, 2038.
