Biographical note
Albert F. McGuinn, SJ was born on March 1, 1901 in Worcester, Massachusetts to James H. and Bridget (McDonald) McGuinn. He graduated from the Massachusetts Agricultural College in 1922, received his MS degree from Rutgers University in 1923, and entered the Society of Jesus at Shadowbrook Novitiate in 1924. McGuinn was awarded a PhD in chemistry at Fordham University in 1933 and was ordained at Weston College in 1936. He was a noted analytical chemist, taught quantitative analysis and chemistry at Boston College, and acted as chairman of the Boston College chemistry department from 1938 to 1956. McGuinn died in Boston, Massachusetts on February 11, 1965.
