Biographical note

American Jesuit philosopher and psychoanalyst William John Richardson, SJ, was born on November 2, 1920. He entered the Jesuit order in 1941 and was ordained a priest in 1953. He studied at the College of the Holy Cross, Woodstock College, and the Catholic University of Louvain. He was a professor of philosophy at Fordham University and Boston College for over thirty years, specializing in the work of German philosopher Martin Heidegger and French psychoanalyst and psychologist Jacques Lacan. Richardson retired from Boston College in 2007. He died on December 10, 2016 in Weston, Massachusetts.
