Biographical Note
Masachusetts resident, salesman, gardener, and translator. John M. Cotter was born in Ireland in the 1860s or 1870s, came to the United States at the turn of the 20th century, and worked as a salesman and gardener in Cambridge and Lexington, Massachusetts. Cotter was an autodidact with a great interest in linguistics, astronomy, and the history of the Celtic people. He translated works of Irish grammar, folklore, and religion, as well as the Chilam Bilam of Chumayel, a Mayan mythological work.
