Biographical Note
A Dutch Jesuit and theologian, Frans Jozef van Beeck was born in Helmond, Netherlands in 1930; he entered the Society of Jesus in 1948 and was ordained in 1963. From 1968 to 1985 Beeck taught in the Theology Department at Boston College. From 1985-2006 he taught at Loyola University in Chicago. Van Beeck died in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, on October 12, 2011.
