Abstract

Legal complaint of merchant Alexander McAuslan of New Bern, North Carolina, to Suffolk County, Massachusetts, Justice of the Peace Edmund Quincy, concerning Tobey, an enslaved man who has escaped from McAuslan during their visit to Boston. Signed by Quincy and McAuslan. Following this is Quincy's order for Tobey's apprehension, with an account of his capture signed by Constable John Pownall.
