Biographical Note
Seán Lucy, born 1931 in Bombay, India, earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at the University College, Cork, Ireland. In 1960, he joined the English Department at University College, Cork, rising to the rank of professor and becoming the department chair. In 1979, he co-founded the University College, Cork, Summer School in Irish Studies for American students. After an early retirement, Lucy moved to Chicago, Illinois, and offered courses in Irish literature at Loyola University, the Newberry Library, and the Irish-American Heritage Center. He died in 2001.
