Biographical note
Sebastian “Seb” Bonaiuto was the first full-time Director of Bands at Boston College, hired in 1989 to design, implement, and direct a comprehensive Bands program. Under his leadership, BC Bands added the University Wind Ensemble and the Symphonic Band (SymBa), and strengthened the Screaming Eagles Marching Band and BC bOp! jazz band. Bonaiuto received his Bacheler of Music degree from Boston University in 1972, having studied trumpet performance and wind conducting. He studied music theory at the graduate level at the New England Conservatory of Music, and received his MBA from Boston College in 1989. Prior to coming to Boston College, Bonaiuto taught music in the Westwood, MA public schools.
