Biographical note
Cathie Ryan was a singer and bodhrán player whose repertoire drew from the Irish tradition and other musical genres. Her musical influences included her parents, who immigrated to Detroit from County Kerry and County Tipperary. As an adult, she moved to New York City and later to County Louth. She performed with the Dermot Henry Band as well as with Cherish the Ladies before forming The Cathie Ryan Band in 1996.
