Biographical note
Originally from the Boston area, Bob "Mac" McQuillen was an accordion and piano player, teacher, and composer in the New England contra dance tradition. Based in Peterborough, New Hampshire, he played with many groups including Old New England, and composed over 1,300 dance tunes. His honors include the New Hamphire's Governor’s Arts Award in Folk Heritage (1997), a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts (2002), and a Lifetime Contribution Award from the Country Dance & Song Society (2009).
