Frain, Owen
Biography
Irish musician Owen Frain was born in 1896 and grew up in Roskey, County Mayo. He left Ireland around 1910 to work in coal mines in England. He then joined the United States Navy, and arrived in New York City around 1916. He moved to the Boston area around 1925, where he played and recorded with Dan Sullivan's Shamrock Band and others, primarily on flute and uilleann pipes. He married Margaret McSweeney, and they had six children: Eugene (Gene), Katherine (Kaye), John, Paul, Maureen, and Margaret.

Black wood barrel, ivory headjoint with boxed oval embouchure hole, metal keys and fittings. Metal tuning slide. Six uncovered holes and eight keys. In a black wooden case that is missing a latch.
