Biographical note

Born Sophia Camille Truszkowska to Joseph and Josephine Rudzińska Truszkowska in Kalisz, Poland, in 1825. She joined the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Warsaw, and later joined the Third Order of Saint Francis, taking the religious name Angela. In 1855, with her cousin Clothilde Ciechanowska, founded the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Felix of Cantalice, dedicated to serving and housing orphaned girls, elderly women, and others in need. Truszkowska died on October 10, 1899. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II in 1993.
