Biographical note

A native of Rome, who studied for the priesthood at the Roman College, and was ordained in 1808. He was exiled to Corsica for refusing to swear allegiance to Napoleon. On his return in 1814, he founded at Giano, diocese of Spoleto, the first house of the Missioners of the Most Precious Blood for mission work at home. After much opposition, it received the approval of the Holy See, but by that time Gaspar was already dead. Canonized in 1955.
