Labouré, Catherine, Saint, 1806-1876
Dates
- Existence: 1806 May 2 - 1876 December 31
Biographical note
Born in the Côte d'Or in 1806, she became a Sister of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul in 1830, and spent her whole life much as the ordinary Sister of Charity spends it, except for a series of visions. The first "miraculous medal" was struck as the result of one of these visions. She died in the convent of Enghien-Reuilly in 1876 and was canonized in 1947.
