Christopher, Saint

 Person

Biographical note

Likely a martyr under Decius. Christopher is one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers. He is known for carrying an unknown child across a ford and being burdened by its weight despite his own gigantic stature and great strength; the child was Jesus, carrying in his hand the weight of the whole world. This episode has led to the usual representation of the saint in art.
