Geneviève, Saint, approximately 420-approximately 500
Person
Biographical note
Born at Nanterre near Paris. In her seventh year, she happened to become known to Saint Germanus of Auxerre, who befriended her. When fifteen years old, she received the veil from the bishop of Paris, and gave herself up to penance and the exercise of charity. When Paris was occupied by the Franks and afterwards threatened by Attila and his Huns, Genevieve encouraged the people to defend the city. She is the special protector and patron of Paris.
