Laziosi, Peregrine, 1265-1345

Biographical note

A native of Forli, during a popular revolt he struck Saint Philip Benizi across the face. Philip turned the other cheek and Peregrine was converted on the spot and forthwith joined the Servites at Siena. He was afterwards sent back to Forli, where he spent the rest of his long life. He was instantaneously cured of a cancer of the foot as a result of a vision, and is for that reason invoked against cancer. Canonized in 1726.
