Philip, the Apostle, Saint

 Person

Biographical note

One of the Twelve, a native of Bethsaida, he is mentioned three times as a confidant of Jesus in John's gospel. After Jesus's ascension, Philip is believed to have preached in Asia Minor and to have been martyred at Hierapolis in Phrygia. His relics are venerated in Rome.
