Walburga, Saint, approximately 710-779

 Person

Biographical note

Sister of Saints Willibald and Winebald. She became a nun at Wimborne in Dorset under Saint Tatta and followed Saint Lioba to Germany at the invitation of Saint Boniface. She died abbess of Heidenheim, whence her relics were translated to Eichstätt. Remarkable cures are ascribed to the use of a fluid which exudes from the rock on which her shrine is placed.
