Biographical note

Tommy Kelly is a Scottish Highland bagpipes, drums, tin whistle, and saxophone player in the Boston area. He has played with a variety of groups, including his family (parents Jimmy and Sally, sister Maureen), the Greater Boston Pipe Band, and the Connacht Ceili Band led by Tommy Sheridan. In 2000, the Kelly Family was inducted into the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Northeast Region Hall of Fame.

Abstract

Collection documents traditional Cape Breton and Irish music in the 1960s through the 1990s with live recordings of social gatherings, concerts, and radio shows performed in Massachusetts, Canada, and Ireland by various musicians, including Sally and Jimmy Kelly.
