Biographical Note

Arthur Walter Murnaghan, polymath, artist, designer, and actor, was born in 1872 in Southampton, England, to Arthur and Rachel O'Murnaghan. He woreked as apprentice dispensing chemist, a librarian at Carnegie Public Library in Southampton, and a wallpaper designer in London. In 1898, he moved to Dublin, joined the Gaelic League, and changed his name to Art O'Murnaghan. He worked as an illustrator and set designer, as well as opening a pharmacy and playing live accompaniment for cinema. He died on 8 July 1954 in Dublin
