Biographical Note
Thomas Bodkin was born in 1887 in Dublin, Ireland. He first studied and practised law, before becoming A Governor of the National Gallery of Ireland in 1916. He was named Director in 1927. In 1935 he left Ireland to serve as Director of the newly established Barber Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Birmingham, England. He retired in 1952.
