Biographical note
Originally from Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, Jerry Toomey was a fiddle player who fronted the Boston-based old-time band "Jerry's Hayshakers" in the 1950s. The Hayshakers regularly performed at Rose Croix Hall, Walsh's Irish Pavilion, and Circle Hall. They recorded eight records on the Copley label and also had their own weekly radio show on WMEX sponsored by the appliance store Toomey owned.
