Biographical note
Fiddle player, teacher, lecturer, scholar, and author Matt Cranitch grew up in a musical family in County Cork. His recording career began in 1969 with the band Na Fili and continued in various collaborations including the band Sliabh Notes. He earned a doctorate from University of Limerick and his awards include All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil titles, The Fiddler of Dooney, the Oireachtas Crotty Cup, and the 2025 Gradam Saoil award from TG4.
