Biographical note
Folklorist and musician Maggie Holtzberg earned a Ph.D. in folklore before serving as the state folklorist for Georgia (1992-1998) and Massachusetts (1999-2023). She received the Benjamin A. Botkin Prize in 2018 and was named a Fellow of the American Folklore Society in 2021. As a violin and fiddle player she played with groups such as How to Change a Flat Tire.
