Biographical note
Born in Dublin, James Kelly was a traditional Irish fiddle player, composer, and teacher whose musical influences include his father, the fiddle and concertina player John Kelly from County Clare. James established himself as a performer before immigrating to the U.S. in 1978. He went on to perform and record both solo and in groups such as Planxty and Patrick Street. He settled in Florida, receiving the Florida Folk Heritage Award in 2001 and the Gradam Ceoil TG4 Irish Musician of the Year Award in 2006.
