Biographical note

From County Cork, Nicky (Nicholas) McAuliffe was a fiddle, flute, whistle, and melodeon player and teacher. In 1971, he won the senior All-Ireland whistle competition, and he has been teaching Irish music and the history of Irish music since 1970. He joined and toured with the folk theater group Siamsa Tíre, and he also toured with the groups the Desmond Céilí Band and the Brosna Céilí Band with whom he won the All-Ireland Céilí Band competition in 1972.
