Biographical note

Originally from County Clare, Tony MacMahon was an accordion player, educator, television producer, and broadcaster. A frequent contributor to TV and radio programs on Irish traditional music, he also recorded and performed widely, including a partnership in the 1980s and 1990s with concertina player Noel Hill. He lived in Dublin for many years and was on the staff of Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) for over two decades. In 2004, he was awarded the Gradam Saoil (lifetime achievement award) from TG4.
