Biographical note
Originally from County Cork, Máire Ní Chathasaigh was a harp player and vocalist based in northern England. Known for her innovations in traditional Irish harp playing, she has toured internationally, as a solo artist, with guitarist Chris Newman, and in other collaborations. In the mid-1970s she won the All-Ireland senior harp competition three times in a row, and in 2001 she received the TG4 Gradam Ceoil award.
