Biographical note

Paddy O'Brien was an accordion player, composer, and traditional music collector who emigrated from County Offaly to Minnesota. He has performed played with groups such as the Ballinamere Céilí Band (1966-1969), the Castle Céilí Band (1969-1978), Ceoltoiri Laighean (1971-1978), Bowhand, and Chulrua. His publications include his tune collection and a memoir. His playing and composition have earned awards including the Oireachtas championship four times, the All-Ireland senior accordion championship (1975), and the TG4 Gradam Cumadóir (2012).
