Biographical note
Máire O’Keeffe was a fiddle player and teacher based in County Galway. Originally from County Kerry, she played in traditional Irish, Scottish, and Cape Breton styles, and presented classes and workshops throughout the world. She released her first solo recording in 1994. She earned her Ph. D. in 2010 from the University of Limerick for a dissertation titled “Journey into Tradition: A Social History of the Irish Button Accordion.” She lectured in music at Mary Immaculate College in Limerick.
