Biographical note

Dearbhaill Standún was a multi-instrumentalist and composer from the Irish-speaking region of County Galway. She was a member of the Irish traditional and baroque music quartet Dordán, performing fiddle, viola, cello, percussion, and background vocals. The group released four albums between 1991 and 1999, and the group won the Irish National Entertainment Award in 1993 and the Galway County Arts Award in 1995 in the traditional music category.

Scope and Contents From the Collection: Boston College Gaelic Roots Festival is primarily documented through audio and video recordings of music and dance performances and lectures. There are also extensive color snapshot photographs of the festival, and these include classes and workshops as well as concerts and lectures.
