Biographical note
Frank Ormsby was born in Northern Ireland in 1947. He was educated at St. Michael's College in Enniskillen and Queen's University in Belfast. He wrote many poetry collections, including A Store of Candles (1977) and The Darkness of Snow (2017). He also edited the literary journal Honest Ulsterman and edited several issues of the Poetry Ireland Review. His honors include a Lawrence O’Shaughnessy Award for Poetry and a Cultural Traditions Award given in memory of John Hewitt. Ormsby taught and was Head of English at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution from 1976 until his retirement in 2010.
