Biographical note

Stephen Stuart-Smith received degrees in Medieval and Modern History and in English and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and of the English Association. He began his career as a secondary school teacher, and later worked as an editor with publishers including Macmillan, Thames & Hudson, Phaidon, and Faber. He has been director of the literary publisher Enitharmon Press since 1987, and in 2001 founded Enitharmon Editions as a specialist publisher of artists’ books.

Correspondence and collected materials from and about Deane's friends, colleagues, and associated organizations. Includes many drafts of literary work sent to Deane for comment, both in his personal capacity and as editor of Dedalus Press.
