Biographical note

Irish-born American painter John Mulvany (1839-1906) created images primarily of the American West, historical battles in Ireland and the United States, and portraits, notably Custer's last rally, depicting General George Armstrong Custer at the Battle of Little Big Horn, The battle of Aughrim, depicting Irish soldiers in the decisive 1691 battle of the Williamite war, and a portrait of Irish nationalist Robert Emmet.
