Biographical note

Leslie MacWeeney Dobbs was born in 1935, in Dublin, Ireland. She studied at the National College of Art in Dublin and, beginning in 1954, worked with the Dolmen Press as an illustrator and colorist. MacWeeney also worked as Anne Yeats's assistant and as secretary of the Annual Irish Exhibition of Living Art. She helped found The Graphic Studio Dublin in 1960. MacWeeney relocated to the United States in 1973, enrolled in an art education program, and taught at Boston University's School of Visual Arts and Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt). She helped found two community art organizations in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Dot Art and Living Art. MacWeeney died in Stoneham, Massachusetts on March 24, 2026.
