Biographical note

Moya Cannon was born in 1956 in Dunfanaghy, County Donegal. She attended University College, Dublin and Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. In 1990, her first book, Oar, won the Brendan Behan Award. After publication of her second book, she was elected to Aosdána, an Irish association of artists. Cannon has published nine collections of poetry, been editor of Poetry Ireland Review, and Heimbold Professor of Irish Studies at Villanova University.
