Biographical Note

American novelist, textbook author, and compiler. Charles Morris was born in Chester, Pennsylvania in 1833. He began his career as a teacher, and from 1860-1878 he worked for a manufacturing company and started publishing short stories, poems, and dime novels as serials in magazines such as Beadle's Saturday Journal. By the 1880s he wrote full-time and published biographies, histories, textbooks, and compilations of tales and interviews with popular authors. He continued to author dime novels, many under his roughly fifteen pen names.
