Biography

Boston College alum, athlete, and meteorologist. Richard M. Gill was born in 1915 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. "Red Richard" entered Boston College in 1934 and became one of the University's foremost track athletes of the 1930s. Gill received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1938 and a Master of Education degree in 1939. In the 1940s, he received a Ph.D. in meteorology. Gill served as a meteorologist in the Air Force from 1943 to 1973 and achieved the rank of Colonel. He died in 1994.
