Biographical Note

Walter J. Meagher entered the Society of Jesus in 1915, was ordained a priest in 1928, and earned a Ph.D. in history in 1944 from Fordham University. He taught at the College of the Holy Cross from 1932 to 1954, and at Boston College from 1954 until his retirement in 1967. Meagher edited the diary of Joseph Coolidge Shaw, a 19th century Boston convert to Catholicism.
