Biographical note

Joseph E. Shea, SJ, was born on December 6, 1904, to Sarah Ann (Mahoney) Shea and Eugene Thomas Shea, in Dorchester, Massachusetts. He entered the Jesuit order at Shadowbrook (1923) and was ordained a priest at Weston College (1935). He earned his BA from Boston College (1926), and his doctor of philosophy degree in psychology from the Pontifical Gregorian University (1946). He taught philosophy and psychology at Weston College (1936-1958) and theology at Boston College (1958-1970). Shea died on January 29, 1979.
