Record of military service for Sargent Jean Baptiste Hippolyte Corneille / Rapport de service militaire de Sgt. Corneille, 1895
Scope and Contents
These papers document the history of the Corneille and Manel families, and their relations from the Méja, Eymery, and Terme families, in the south of France. The papers include birth, death, and marriage records; correspondence; court documents; diplomas; genealogical notes; invoices; land records; newspaper clippings; memberships; military records; and photographs, which show the course of the family from the time of Louis XIV through the revolutions, Napoleonic empires, and into republican France. These papers demonstrate the education, property ownership, business endeavors, and military and political careers of family members. While most members of the family are represented by a few papers, there is more robust information on the fate of the family properties in Montpezat de Quercy and Perigueux, the military career of Alfred Manel, and the political career of Jean Baptiste Hippolyte Corneille. Genealogical notes and a narrative family history by Michèle (Corneille) Krahmer add context to the other papers.
