An outline indicates that the work was to include sections on late Roman Gaul, the era of Clovis, the later Merovingian period, and the Carolingians. Daly's folder titles often use "Europe" as a shorthand reference to this project. Lecture notes, articles, and conference papers on the topic were found interfiled with chapter drafts and have been left in place.
