Volume 48, Number 2: "The Pope and Ireland's President: Pt.l", 1989 November 1
Scope and Contents
Published on the average six times yearly since 1942, the Bulletin of the Eire Society is devoted to brief essays on a variety of Ireland-related topics. Initially, from 1942 to 1949, the Bulletin was used as a means of communication with members, presenting mostly Eire Society "news notes." From 1950 to the early 1960s the Bulletin reprinted articles of interest from current magazines and Irish documentary sources. It was also at this time that the Bulletin began presenting essays researched by its editorial staff. From the early 1960s to date there has been a more concerted effort to engage authors other than the editor to write original and more in depth material for publication in the Bulletin. Missing Bulletin numbers are: 1-1,2-1,2-2,3-1,4-1,4-2, and 4-4.
