Scope and Contents
Photographs of Northern Ireland taken in 1971. The nearly 500 photographs document the impacts of the violence ensuing from the struggle for power between state military and paramilitary groups, known as the Troubles, on daily life in Northern Ireland.
Many images in this collection contain depictions of violence, destruction, death, injury, and trauma during the political and religious conflict in Ireland known as the Troubles. Included are images of the aftermath of bomb explosions and the affected people and communities.

Processing Information
The photographic prints were received divided between three boxes, each with a set of index prints. Each box contained a selection of prints from across the 125 rolls of negatives. The reason for the division was unclear, and it separated related prints. The prints were arranged into single set during processing in 2024.
